11.2% of people in 499 or less are in a de facto relationship — the seventh-lowest rate of de facto relationships of any of the country's 71 areas.

Among its neighbours it's higher than 1 million or more, but lower than 250,000 to 999,999, 50,000 to 99,999 and 20,000 to 49,999.

The rate has climbed 7.2 points since 2011 (4.0% → 11.2%), outpacing the national rise of 2.0 points.
